WOOL SALES.

INCREASED OFFERINGS. (Pes United I'kess Association.) * AUCKLAND, November 23. The first wool sales of the season take place at the Auckland Chamber of Com-' merce on -Wednesday, the order of the sale and the number of bales catalogued being as follows:—U. B. Kingswell and Up., 120 bales; G.W, Kinney ami Son, 60*'; Auckland Farmers' Union, . 250; Alfred Buck-land and Sons, 1377; New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Ltd.); 1803; Dainty and Co. (Ltd.), 400;--total, 1659 bales. ' The number of bales catalogued this year exceeds the total number olfo-cd at the corresponding sale of last year. This is the iresult of the fine weather which prevailed during the shearing season, thus enabling the farmers to get through with shearing operations earlier than usual. The wool is of exceptionally good quality and fairly light in grease. For some years there has been'a yearly improvement noticeable, and the standard of the fleece to be offered on Wednesday next is well up to the average. This is the result of using moie care in the selection of ranis, aud also to the better get -up ot the. wool before packing. Messrs Dalgeiy and Co. (Ltd.) report having received the following cablegram from their head oifice, daled London, :21st November:—''Wool market very linn. x At tlie next series of .sales in London we expect a rise of fully 5 per cent, in price of merinos in general, and a rise of 5 to 10 per cent, for crassbrci.'s generally."
