SCAROITY OF LABOUR.
CLOTIIINC; FACTORIES' DIFFICULTY. (Pin Übited Press Association.) , CHRJSTCHURCH, October 27. Employers are complaining of the great difficulty experienced in securing female employees for shirt and other clothing factories, and the officials of the Labour Department- slate that then 1 is a (leaded scarcity of labour in those industries. A further contributing cause of the shortage of female labour was, ho stated, Ihe disinclination of young girl; to enter fariories. However, the various batches of immigrants who were arriving' in the Dominion, and among whom were a number of families, were serving to remedy matters somewhat, and Ihe girls of from 14 to 17 years of age who arrived hem wei'c eagerly sought after. Tiro present v.t.s, of course, a busy period with faetoiies, and accordingly the scarcity, which was general throughout the Bominion, was being more severely felt.
