BAD WEATHER AT SEA

(Received July 31, at 5.42 p.m.) The steamer Mareeba,, bound from Brisbane to Newcastle and .Sydney with a Jai'ge general cargo, went ashore in thick weather and a heavy sea on Stockton ■Beach. There are hopes of refloating the vessel. The crew are safe. (Received July 31, at 9.30 p.m.) The Marccba arrived off Newcastle last night, but owing to tho heavy weather her captain derifled to stand by till daylight. The vessel grounded' at 4 a.m. in dark, dirty weather. She lies broadside on, well up on a shelving sandy beach. ', The crew had little difficulty in landing. The captain and part of the crew are standing by. An attempt, to tug the vessel off failed, i.Jmt will be renewed to-night. A SCOW ASHORE. SYDNEY, July 31. (Received July 31. at 9.30 p.m.) The scow Hilda, which was at one time engaged in the New Zealand trade, and which is tinvber-laden, L<s ashore in Wreck Bay, and may possibly become a ■total wreck. The crew arc safe. INOA IN A HURRICANE. SYDNEY, July 31., The Inga experienced a violont hurricane' after clearing the New Zealand coast. He rigging was damaged' through the deck cargo getting adrift. A small 'part of the cargo was washed overboard. HEAVY SEAS. MELBOURNE, July 31. The Ennerdale encountered terrific weather on her trip from Kaipara. The deckhouse on the bridge deck was carried away, and one of tho crow had a leg jbroken;
