RIYAL INFLUENCES. Press Association—By Telegraph— Copyright. LONDON, July 30. A non-political parliamentary committee is being lormed to support the ■maintenance of a strong navy. On the other hand, Mr Asquith has received an appeal signed by 144 of his supporters asking for a reduction in armaments. Th-e appeal emphasises the need for a survey of the. situation and of the figures iii the Budget- Statement for 1906-7. Sir J. Biuuner (Liberal member for Northwic-h) and Mr .1. A. Mac Donald (Liberal member for Falln'rk) were the authors of this appeal.
