COURSING. (Per United Pnnss Association.) OAMAHU, July 30. Th South Island Coursing Club's Maiden Stako was run to-day in fine weather beforo a limited number of spectators. Only a small ontry had heon received, but several outside dogs wera present, two of three that ran into the final beiiig nominated by a Hawke's Bay owner. The earlier rounds were not interesting, and at the end of throe rounds only Paddy the Pointer, GoldspuT, and Ascrasio were left in, the last-named having the bye. Goldspur was least fanoied of the three, but he developed an unexpected turn Qf speed, and successively beat the two North Islamd dogs, annexing the first prize for Mr J. Ward, of Oainnru (his owner), with Ascrasia, owned by M, Breen (Hawke's Bay), as runner-up.

B Gradj.—S. Hilda's brat Union by 2 goals to nil; Morningtoji beat Dunedin by 2 goals to nil; Wniata beat Giiton by 4 goals to nil; Bracmar beat Momona No. 1 by 2 goals to 1; High School beat Momona No. 2 by 4 goals to nil; University beat Otago by 4 goals fo 1.
