PALMEIvSTON N., July 30. The attention of the police having been directed to the sporting notes of "Asmodeous," published in tho Manawatu Daily Times on the 18th inst., Mr Hoben, us proprietor, has received a summons under the Gaming and Lotteries Act setting out that he published a suggestion as to the probable result of a certain horso race to bo run at Trent-ham, tho said suggestion being in tho words following;—" Topics of the Turf.—Today's Trentha-m Meeting: Sir Frisco has been doing some good work on tho track, and should bo much fancied in the Parliamentary Handicap to-day. Dawn and Seaman should also bo handy when tho winning post is readied "—contrary to the form of the statute in such case made and provided. Of tlio three horses, mentioned Sir Frisco won, and Seaman and Dawn provided Gecond and third respectively in the Parliamentary Handicap.
