A WELLINGTON LAND DEAL.
< (Frou Our Own Correspondent.) e WELLINGTON, July 30. « . Correspondence, papers, and plans relat- 1 illg to transactions between Macdonald, Wilson, and Co., the City Corporation, the Hon. T. K. Macdonald, and the Government in connection with certain lands at the corner of Woodward street and Wellington terrace were laid on tho table of tho House of Representatives this afternoon. The appearance of tho papers was the signal for a discussion, which lasted some time. During the course of the debate certain allegations were made, and the Primo Minister promptly suggested that the whole matter should be inquired into- by a select committee. Mr Fisher saijl that the Government had been misled, and the publio of Wellington had been deceived also. Aftor the papers had been laid on the table, Sir Joseph Ward' moved that they be printed and referral to the Lands Committee of tho House. The transaction, which haa been a subject of great local t interest for. some timo past, is of a son<e- i what complicated nature.
