DUNEDIN ENGINEER CADETS.

The eighth annual meeting of the Dun- • edin Engineer Cadet 6 was hold in the orderly room last night, when there was a large attendance of members. .; The balance 6heet showed tho corps to' beTn v a satisfactory condition. .* ■• The following are extracts from the shooting report:— During the past season the members have,, on the whole, taken a lively interest ii>; the •shooting of the corps. The regulation re-' specting.marksmen's badges was altered tinsyear, only those making over 120 pointa securing badges. Ten members of the corps ore eutit'cd to wear the red rifle for. the ensuing year. In tho Cadet Match of the ; Otago Rifle Association the members secured' a large percentage of the prize-money Two matches were fired against the Gore Cadets—, one at Dunedin and one-at, Gore,—both' : matches being won easily by the Engineer Cadets. In the annual competition for. the Battalion Cup onr team made two more points r than the score with which they gained top place last year, but, notwithstanding our good ' shooting, the No. 2 Otago Boys' High.Sohool' Cadets beat us with something to spare, and accordingly hold the cup for the year. By constant practice at the range we have hopes' of wresting the honour from them 'at next contest. The winner of the Ladies'' Challenge" ■ Belt' was Sergeant-major G; Bennett, .who. , shot, most consistently throughout the season. We have to thank the following for special' shooting prizes: Mrs Blomfield, Mrs Barclay (Auckland), Ex-captain Denniston, Ex-lieu-.' tenant Pindon, Ex-sapper Taylor, and'Mr H. 0. Holier. With the ample allowance of ammunifion, your committee trusts thatmem--' bers will avail themselves of every .opportunity to improve their shooting, both at-fir,.' butt 9 and with the necessary snapping practioi at home. The ofSce-bearers for the ensuing year are: — Secretary, Sergeant' -Crawford; 1 assistant secretary, Sergeant Sachtler; - Amusement Committee, section coni-. manders; Shooting Committee—Sergeant-, major Bennett, Q.M.-Sergeant Still, Ser-, geants Sachtler and Crawford, Corporal Brandon, Lanefe-corporals Knight arid • Waite; Football Committee - Sergeant' Sachtler, Lance-corporals Mann, Knipht,; and Troinor, Cadets Scott,, Hooper, Miller,. and Brosnan. !' Captain Denniston and ex-Lieutenant-; Findon were- unanimously elected lita honorary members of the corps.
