'» - ■ An adjourned special mooting of tho Otago Acclimatisation Society's Council was held yesterday afternoon, and was attended' by Messrs Chisholm (ohairman), Edgar, J. Sinclair Thomson, Butterworth, Marshall, Forrcct, Russell (secrc-tarv), and Deans (manager): The Chairman said the first business was the fixing of fishing regulations, copies of which members of tlio council had had. The solicitor had drafted a clause to rnako certain that, provision 16 should not apply to the Otago district. The clause adopted was to the effect that regulation 16 should not. apply to persons holding licenses issued imder the regulations. No limit should bo placed on tho number or weight of trout to b(i caught in any one dav by any person holding a liccnse. The Chairman, continuing, said tho instructions had been given to take action against Mr Gilmour, but it was thought this would bo a mistake beforo writing Mr Gilmore a plain letter telling him what the position was; then if lie persisted thoro was no help for it. Tho solicitor wrote in connection with tho matter that he had written to Mr Gilmore, pointing out the legal position, and reromi'londiiiff him to desk from his attitude. It was resolved that- tho provision suggested by the solicitor follow: on clause 1, and that in the schedule attached to the regulation? setting forth the license that should he isucd there be inserted "subject to the general regulations in forco for tho time being, except regulation 16, which shall not apply to this district.' 1 . Tho Chairman said the council had fixed upon die recommendation ,of the executive that Iho dccr-stalking 'season should, begin 011 April 15. Tlio Secretary reported .that' he had received a call fromi Mr Dooley, of' Tomahawk, who had slated that the_ pevch in the Tomahawk lagoon were extinct. Mr Dooley had stated that the salt-water had. got in on a cert-am wind and. had killed every porch in the lagoon.—Resolved. Ihat Mr Deans visit the locality and report. A letter was received from a-resident at Ba.vrea Flat, to -tho effect that , a'gentleman from Pembroke was in Wellington endeavouring to move the Tourist Department to get the Government to take oyer Ham Lake and place it in l-W'.hawb'of the Wakaiipu and Wanaka Societies, with tho objeefc of opening it for. msttmer. Thov wero about to have a,motor launch placed 011 tho lake at last.,- ; Mr 'Tonkin,, .of Roxburgh, was goingto put one on, and -it was expected to bo there-shortly. _ .
