' UNCERTIFICATED TEACHERS. INTERCHANGE WITH AMERICA, (Per United Pp.ess Association.) . . INVURCARftILL, September. 6. The Soutliland Education Board is making an effort to deal comprehensively with the uncertificated teacher difficulty. Teachers ]■ havo been circularised to the effect that unless they mako,.progress satisfactory to tho inspectors towards obtaining certificates by tho March examination their engagement, which with an uncertificated teacher is only temporary, will bo terminated. In the way of assisting toaclicrs over this difficulty, which is recognised as a'considerable teak for a working teacher, the board line decidod to recommend the Minister that provision should be mado in the regulations permitting candidates to take the examination in sections.
Tho board expressed, sympathy with, and referred to the Teachers' Institute, a letter from Mr S. Pearson (Wellington)' advising communioation with 4he. educational, authoritiea in America re an" interchange of teachers for a. period of two years! for mutual benefit.
