THE CAMBRIDGE SANATORIUM

In tho Houso to-day Mr Mnssey asked if tho statements made wore true to the effect that the Cambridge Sanatorium had been reported upon a 6 being placed in an altogether, unsuitable place, "the climatc hoing moist and the sanatorium exposed to westerly winds, which woro very trying to people sufforing from chest complaints. Ho wished to know if mcdical men ha<l at different times reported to this effect. Ho also wished to know if important parts of reporte had been kept back, instead of having been submitted to Parliament.

■Mr Fowlds saicl ho had not. kept 'back reports. So fiy - as the location was concerned, ho thought it had been generally approved, though he did not know whether tho same stress was put on the question of elevation now as at tho time this site was chosen. Tho climate was satisfactory. The only objection was that owing to tho height it was difficult to get material up to t.lio sanatorium. Mr Massoy: What about the -westerly winds? Mr Fowlds {after consulting Dr Afcon): It is so high up that it gets all tin'' winds that- blow. I havo not kept back *ny information. Mr Massoy: I will put a s'raitrhfc question to tho Minister. Ilns Dr Penrcith's report been submitted in its entirety, or has part of it been kept back. Mr Fowlds: I cannot say, but Dr Penrcith's administration was not quite satisfactory from tho department's point, of view, and at the time of ilis leaving he may havo iuado some adven-e report.
