SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETINGS.
A' meeting ot the George Street School Committee was held last evening; ptesent— Messrs Chudwick (in the chair), Peake, Farra, Hopkins, Brown, Knox, and Ferguson. The Cioorgo Street Gymnastic Club wrote applying far the use of the gymnasium on Mondays and Thursdays from April, 1908, till October,' 1908. Consideration held over till next monthly inseting.—An application was made for tho use of the tenuis court for the. season. Granted.-The New Zealand Book: binders' and Paper-rollers' Society wrote asfcm<? support in urging on the Minister of Kducation the wisdom of issuing Mini form school books in all schools. It was decided tp endorse this.—The. number of pupils on the roll wa3 reported at 529; average attendance, 431. Colds and influenza, haj made » imai-ked difference in the atfcndance.-A commiitee was appointed: to arrange a concert in aid of the prize fund. ' > ■
At the monthly meeting of the Caversham School Committee on Monday evening the members present were. Messrs Todd (chairman), Austin, Brown, Baruett, Kennaid. Stevenson, EuUierford, Thorn, and Wright The Visiting Committee reported fche schooj working to be. satisfactory. Tho Head Master reported for August, as follows.—Number on roll: Boys 282, girls 2«, total's2o, with an attendance percentage of 89. A good deal of sickness amongst the whqlsrs accounts for tho low percentage during tho month.
