ACCIDENT TO A STATUE.
(Pep. United Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, September 2. A statue of a trooper by way of memorial to tho coiitingenters was purchased some time ago for erection in the centro of the town. Tho work was postponed during the winter. To-day a start was made in putting' it up. Tho trooper dropped after being raised 4ft, and brolco his ncek, both legs, and', tho rifle. An expert is being trough" to see if it can be repaired. TTie' monument cost £85, and was got in Italy.
