OimiSTCEURCH 'v. DUNEDIN. The annual hockey match botwecn th'» Christelmroh and Dnnedin Ladies' Hockey Clubs was held yesterday afternoon at Bishopseourt. in the presence of about a couple of hundred persons, who proved' most enthusiastic onlookere. The teams lined 1 out-as follows: —

CHRtSTcnußCH.—Goalkeeper, MissO. Simp, son; backs—Misses 11. Campbell and N, Roso; bftlvps—Misses N. Knight, D. Qurytrfcall, T. Robinson; forwards—Misses Cr, Knight, A. a Knight,.G-. Mextan, H. 'Chapman, D."Banks. Dunediw.—Goalkeeper, Mass C. AFLcan; backs—Misses T. "TCyinks and A. "NVoodhousoj halves—Missos M. Park, D. FuicSi, K. Finch;! forwards-Misses D. Sim, D. (kirfnw, F. F-ishar, R. Thomson, W. Spcdfcfiugf. Tlio.lino umpires were Messrs R. Wood.house and W. Ellis, and. the rcfcreo Mr J. 0. E. Sibbald. When tho teams lined out it wag noticed that the Dnnedin' young ladies had the advantage in the matter of costume, being less encumbered than their visitors. Dnnedin led- off with a sharp attack, and play hovered about tho Cliristeiuirch twenty-five for a while, some' good wing play boing engaged in by Miss Sim; but the stubborn defence kept Dunedin off* for some time. A good passing rush enabled Miss W. Spcdding to draw first, blood for Dunedin. Christchurch led off from the bully, and showed some great stick play, but one or two infringements neutralised their efforts. Good wing play by Miss Knight took the ball down to the Diuiedin twenty- ■ five, and a sharp transfer to Miss Morton enabled the latter to equalise tho scores. Half time was eailed with tlio hall at. tho line-out. Play commenced somcwhai wearily in the second spell, and Christchurch • was, generally speaking, on the _ defence, Tile Dnnedin' forwards proved' to'be considerably faster and played with' better combination. Half way through tho spell a smart attack on tHb Christchurch goal ; resulted in tho goal-keeper kneeling down and obstructing tho ball, and the penalty bully was won by the Christchttrch goalkeeper, and enabled her to relievo her linc.j. Dnnedin returned to tlio attack, and, shortly " afterwards, smart play by Misses Pinch and Sim gave a good pass to Miss Gard'ncr who scored the second goal for Dunedin." Play after this was up and down, and Christchurch attacked splendidly, but wero unable to increase their score. On two occasions Miss Morten'went off with thp ball, but being somewhat fresher than the rest of tho Christchurch forwards got too far ay-ay, and was consequently unsupported when in good l position. One of her attacks resulted in a corner hit. The Christchurch ' team got tho ball, well out, and a smart attack (it, goal was well stopped by tho Dunedin goal-keeper, and tlic bail driven ou(l----to the side lino when • time was-called. Thomatch resulted:— Dunedin ... ... ... ..j ... 2 goals. Christchurch' ... ... 1 goal. The ground -was somcwliat larger fKan that usually played on, being tlio full football ground, and this proved somewhat trying to the young ladies. It was noticcablo. that play was almost entirely confined to the forwards and Iwlf-baeks. In-the cas® of both teams the full-backs kept too far away from their half-baoks, and the halfbacks kept too far away from their for. wards,, consequently thero was a looseness in tho play, and tho toams wero 'too scattered to enable thorn to play offeetivo hockey. It resulted in tho forwards tirint themselves out before tho frame was haft way through? Not a singlo appeal wag mads throughout tlio game. Tea wsa served during the aftornoon 'by<raombOTß-of the Dunedin Club.
