The Canadian representative in this city asked Sir W. J. Lyne to suspend the new tariff for three months, as far as Canada, was concerned, but the Commissioner refused.
THE WIRE NETTING INCIDENT. SYDNEY. August 29.
(Received August 29, at 9.27"p.m.) The latest development in comiectioi. with the wire netting incident is that the Federal Government liae issued a writ against the firm of carters who removed the wire from Hid Customs authorities' control, whilst the New South Wales Government has issued writs against the Commonwealth—one in the Hi«h Court, claiming a refund of duty paid in 1802, and another in the iSupreme Court for duty paid in June last.
