THE COLONY'S INDUSTRIES.

PRETORIA, August 28. Tho Transvaal Government has appointed n, commission to inquire into the conditions of the colony's industries, and what protection they require, also as to the operation of the Customs Union, and the extent of white labour compared with coloured.
A DISPUTE SETTLED. PRETORIA, Angust 28. Tlio actions between the chairman and members of the Witwatersrand , Native Labour Association and Mr J, B, Robinson, the B-and mining magnate, have been settled, Mr Hobinson declaring that he did not impute anything derogatory to tlteir personal honour and good faith in connection with his withdrawal from the Native Labour Association. Mr Robinson rejoins the association and the Chamber of Mines.
In March last eeven summonses were issued at tho instance of the Witwaicrsrand Native Labour Association and of, six members of the Board of Managomont, claiming £10,000 damages each, for alleged defamation against Mr J. B. Robinson, who, it was claimed, had acousod t,ho association of deliberately restricting the supply of Kaffirs,
