Saturday, Aran 27.' (Before Mr 11. Y. Widdowson, S.M;) Drunkenness.—Alexander Carsim, an old man; pleaded "Guilty" fo being'found drunk ! the previous day.—Ho was ordered to pay the I 2s cab hire incidental to his arrest, in default 21 hours' imprisonment. ! Obscono Language—Adam Edgar, in addition, to a clwrge of drunkenness, was charged with using obscene language.—Station-seigeant i King said tho man was lying on the street, and when arrested ho resisted violently and , used' the language complained of.—Pined 10s or 48 hours on tho chargb of drunkenness, and £■>, m default ouo month, on the • second , charge. l?aIso Pretences.—A fitting of the Juvenilo Court. was held subsequently, when two girls aged 19 and IS years respectively \vere chared' with having obtained £2 from the Taieri and Peninsula, Company by means of a falso pretence.— -Both pleaded "Guilty,'! and were represented by Mr Wilkinson.—The facts, ns related, were that the cider girl first of all obtained ±'2 from' the company by means oi a subterfuge, and afterwards prevailed upon tho younger girl to do likewise. All tho money with -the exception of some 4s had gono to tho elder accused—Tho Magistrate said it was evident that tho older girl had led tho other astray and into sin. She would be convicted and ordered to come up tor sentence when called upon, on condition that she returned to her father, left tho town, and refmnflod the £4. The younger girl was admonished and ordered to' return- to her father.
