(Fjou Our Otth Corf.iSfondekt.) WELLINGTON,- April 11. The Government intends taking 4?. actcs of Native land at Lake Rbtoiti for electric lighting purposes. Tlio Government liris appointed Mr tlouston, M.H.R., a commissioner to report upon "surplus lands" north of Auckland. Lord I'liihkot has been appointed Honorary Colonel to the 2nd Regiment North 1 Canterbury Mounted Rifle Volunteers. The Colonial Treasurer acknowledges the receipt of £20, in two £10 bank-notes, which was forwarded to him without advice, evidently " conscience money." The Government olficcs throughout the colony will be closed on Tuesday, the 23rd inst. '(St. George's Day). The arrivals in the colony for February kst were 3010. as against 3227 in February, ISOS. The departures were 3176, as compared with 2275 for the February month of the previous year. This afternoon Captain Erie Johnstoii, of (lie, Indian army (son of the Hdh. C. .f. Johnston, M.L.C.) t was married to Miss Morna Fell, youngest daughter 'of jlr A. G. Fell, of Brougham street, and formerly of Pieton.' The ceremony was perforlncd by the Rev. Father Lewis, in the presence of a large gathering of. guests. The bride was given away by . her father, and was attended by Miss Mildred Fell (sister), Miss Krica Fell (cousin), and Miss Deri?- Johnston (niece of the bridegroom). Mr Guy Johnston (brother of tJie bridegroom) was best man, and tlio groomsmen were Messrs Featliftvstou, JoliUStou, and Russell Grace.
