The deaths in .February were 285—a decrease of 5 on tho number in January. Of the total deaths, males contributed 165 and females 120. ■ One hundred and twonty-six of tho deaths were of children under five years of age,'being 41.21 per cenl. of the whole number. One hundred and ten of these were under one year of aije. There were 54 deaths of persons of 65 years and upwards— three men (77, 79, aud_ SO) and thrco wor.ion (7b, 77, and 78) dic<i at Auckland ; 10 men (73, 75, 79, 80, 80, 82, 82, 84, 65, 90) and thrco women (74, 84, 88) at "W-dllitigton: 13 men (65, 67, 67, 68, 68, 70, 71, 72. 73, 74, 75, 76, 81) and five women (67, 71, 74, 70, 88) at Christchurch; and 12 nidi (65, 67, 68., 69, 70, 73, 73, 77, 70, 81, 83, 94) and five women (70, 73, 73, 75) at Dnnedin.
