GEORGE STREET GYMNASTIC CLUB.

Tlie annual meeting of the George Street Gymnastic Club was held last evening, Mr D. A. M'Nicoll (president) being in tho chair. The following is a summary of the seventh annual report of the committee:— " The balance sheet again shows a small credit balance, which must be considered eminently satisfactory, considering the heavy expense tho committee has been put to during tho past year. The young ladies' club, which was in its first season, resulted in a loss of £3 ts lid lo the hoys' club. Tho committee begs to offer its sincere thanks to Miss L. Caradus, the instructor of this club, for tho able manner in which she conducted her class. Tho membership for the boys' club during the year was most satisfactory, thero being 31 active members with an average nightly attendance of 23. The first team, which comprised tho following, Messrs 11. Baber, J. Robertson, T. Weir, S. Whittaker, V. M'Donald. and J. Dreaver, succccded in winning the Senior Grade banner by the handsome margin of G3 points. The second team, comprising Messrs 0, Mackay, A. Fyfe, L.' Maw, W. Robertson, W. Brownie, and A. Robinson, put up a great performance in winning "the -Second Grade banner, defeating the Oamaru Club by the largo .majority of 58 points. The annual handicap competition for senior and junior members was held during September, and tho close finishes'throughout reflected' credit on the liandicapper (Mr Robertson); Tho junior competition was won by E, Martin, with 7 points start, who secured Mr O. H. Holler's silver medal. F. Laurie, who came second, performed really well. The senior contest for two gold medals and ono silver medal (presented by Messrs 0, H. Holler, E. Mills, and C. Wilson) was productive of some very good apparatus work, the winners being Y. M'Donald (scratch), 151$ points, 1;' J. Dreaver (5 points), 1471 points, 2; and O. Mackay, 1362j points, 3. A silver medal presented by Mr O. H; Moller for most improved gymnast was won by A. Fyfe. A silver medal (with gold centre) presonted by Mr J. Drearer for the most consistent in training was won by W. Robertson. A silver medal (presented by the club) for the most consistent junior was won by R. Goyen." The balance sheet showed that the receipts had been £28 4s 3d, and that there was a small credit balance in hand. The Chairman moved tho adoption of the report and balance sheet, tho motion being carried without discussion, Mr D. A. Jf'Kicoll was re-elected president; Messrs T. P. Farra, R. Wilson, C. Wilson, A. M'Lean, J. M'Phie, A. Black, and 0. H. Holler vicc-prosidents; Messrs A. Black and J. Lemon auditors; Messrs J. Dreaver and T. Weir delegates to Gymnastic Association. Mr V. M'Donald was elccted secretary and treasurer, and in connection with tho appointment Mr A. Black referred to the past good services of llr J. Dreaver! who had been secretary for some years. Mr J. Robertson was elected captain, Mr T. Weir deputy-captain, and Messrs A. Robinson, W. Robertson, J. Dreaver, A. Fyfe, and Y, M'Donald a committee. The subscriptions were fixed at 12s Gel for seniors and 9s fdr juniors. It was decided to open an hon. members' list, the subscription to be 7s 6d.

Mr J. Dreaver mentioned that he would donate a medal to the member who brought the most new members to the club during the incoming yeaT. —Mr Dreaver to be thanked. Mt Drcavcr also mentioned that Mr J. Nicholson intended to give a medal to tho best gymnast in tho club. It was resolved that the sympathy of tho club for Mr and Mrs Brownie in connection with tho death of their son bo minuted.
