POLO TOURNAMENT. • — <■> (Pur. United Press Association.) KAPIER, March 24. The i\ r e.v Zealand polo tournament was continued at Hastings on Saturday. The iiiial for the- Saville Cup between the Rangitikci and Hawke's Boy A teams -was an exceptionally good game." The general opinion; prior io the commencement of the play was that Eangitikoi would win somewhat easily, but from the start of play it was seen that Hawko's Bay did not mean to let the visitors have matters all their own way. Both ■teams played splendidly, and the game was worth travelling > long way to witness. Otmond and Russell wore playing a magnificent game for Hawke's Bay, especially Ormond. From start to finish thj game was exceedingly fast, both teams hitting well. In the first apell play was very exciting, Russell , drawing first blood for Hawke's' Bay, while on two occasions JUugitikei came very near scoring. The second spell was a repetition of the first, Hawke's Bay pressing their opponents very hard, and Onnend scored two goals as the result of some fine play, in which he was well supported by Rusfell. In tSb third spell matters were more even, E. Wilson placing a goal to Rankilikei's credit, white M'Kenzie added another to Hawke's Bay's score. In the fourth spell Jiawke's Bay's play lacked vigour, and it seem as though the pace they set at the start wns boginnin" to ■tell on them, and Kangitikci put on 'three goals in this spell, thus making the score even. R. Wilson hit two of the goals and Dalrymple one. In the fifth spell excitement ran high, -and when it was seen that Hawke's Bay was again playing in the form that characterised them til the start .interest became very keen. After some splendid play on both sides Ormond succeeded in hitting another goal for Hawke's Bay. and although both sides kept up- the pressure right to the end of the last spell no further score resulted, Hawke's Bay thus winning by 5 goals to -i. In the Handicap Cup, Wellington (handicap 10) beat Fern Flat (handicap 18) by 24 foals to 21. At the conclusion of the play Lady Russell presented the Ssvillc Cup to her son, Mr Harold Russell, captain of tho Hawke's Bay team.
