THE BANQUET.
About 1000 firemen were present at tho banquet given by the Demonstration Committee in tho Exhibition main corridor tonight. The gathering was a most memorable one. Tho Deputy-Mayor presided, and the. Acting Prime. Minister (the Hon. W. Hall-Jones), together with the local members of Parliament, was present. Several toasts ucro honoured, and tho prizes won during the competitions, which closed to-da'.v, were presented by Mr IlallJones.
