' Three ■ months' bills are discounted at 5 per cent. Consols arc quoted at £85 7s 6d. Tho following are the quotations for colonial Government stocks compared with those, ruling a week previous
Wheat: The market, is firm, with-a confident tone, despite liberal shipments to Europe. Cargoes uro firm and strongly held, 31s being bid for South' Australian off coast and. 30s 6d for February-March shipment. Flour is quiet and unchanged. Freights arc inactive. Victorian fixture, 24s 9d. Butter: The market is quiet and steady and generally unchanged. Choicest Australian unsaltcd realises 100s. Copper: Spot, £107 10s; three months £108 Ss. ' tin: Spot, £187 15s; three mouths, £184 10s. Lead, £19 15s. Pig .iron, 51s 6d. Spelter, £26 10s. Sugar: German, 9s 2d; first marks. 10s Bd. Bradford wool: I'ho market is more active. Common sixties, 26£ d; super., 2?id. At tlio London sales tlio demand is very strong. Crossbreds are slightly dearer. The ileeco portion of the Toroa clip realised lljjd. At the Sheepskin sales 3300 were offered and sold, was largo attendance, and very keen bidding. All qualities ot combings are U higher, and clothings -Jd to Jd higher, The advance is most- noliccablo in merinos.
