MEETING OF SOCIETY.
A very enjoyable meeting -was held by tho Alliance Lodge, 1.0. G.T., ill the Friendly Societies' Ilall, South Dunedin, on AYednesday. Bro. W. Slubbs, C.T., presided, and tlie attendance of members, visitors, nnd sister lodges was excellent. The evening took tho form of an " open night," and tho programme submitted to those present was one ot the best. The ladies and gentlemen who contributed to the enjoyment- well deserved the applause which followed their respective items. The programme was as follows:— Piano duct, Sisters Foster and Fiddis; songs, Miss Eirsman (late of Scotland), Sis. Foster, and Bros. Stubbs, Todd, and Marett; recitations by Sisters Burton, Cook, A. Thomas, and Bro. X. It' Lean; a piano solo by Sis. Marelt, and. a humorous dialogue by Sisters Thomas (0) and Bros. Thomas (2). At the close of the meeting three candidates were proposed for membership.
