At the conclusion of the business at tlio Maori Hill Council meeting last- evening tho members of the council unanimously requested Mr S. X. Brown to allow himself to bo again nominated for the mayoralty for a further torm. Mr Brown acceded to the rennest, A telegram from .Marion yesterday announced tlio death on the previous evening of Mr Samuel Gibbons, son., a well-known resident, after a short illness. Deceased was for many years proprietor of the White Hnrb Hotel. He also took an active part in local politics.
