OTAGO CRICKET ASSOCIATION

A meeting of the Otago Cricket. Association was held last evening in the secretary's office. There was a good attendance, and Mr C. R. Smith presided. Tho Secretary Grocers' Club wrote stating that tho Wednesday match Grange v. Grocers had resulted: Grange, 221; Grocers, 67 for no wickets. Tho match being unfinished, the club arranged to play it. out. on March 13, and, Grange being unable to put a team in tho field, his club claimed a win by default.—Referred to the First Grado Committee. In accordance with notice given, Mr F. 11. Campbell moved—"That the resolution ro the St. Martin's Club, passed at the meeting of tho committee on March 14, bo rescinded." Mr Campbell said ho thought the committee had actcd wrongly in receiving a resolution of which notico had not, been given.—Motion carried. Mr J. J. Clark similarly moved—"That the resolution passed on November 22, awarding the first two matches played on October 20 and 27 against .'the St. Martin's 'Ciub, bo rescinded." Mr Clark said the position was that on October 30 the committee bad carried a resolution making a player a defaulter of Opoho Club. A protest was raised at the lime against t.ho matter bcinj; dccided off-hand, but that was overruled. That, being so, the Grade Committee had no option but to award to tho other side the matches in which this player took part. Later on, however, tho matter had been reopened by a letter from St. Martin's Club, and after going into tho matter fully it was dccided that the' player could not be considered a defaulter, Ilis subscription had been paid by a date fixed bv the club. Tho committee had awarded the matches to- Opoho, and he moved that the resolution he rescinded.—After very considerable discussion Mr Clark's motion was put and lost. The original resolution, declaring the player a defaulter to Opolio Club, was upheld, and the matches in which tlio player took part were awarded against St. Martin's Club. An appeal by St. Martin's Club against Mornington for a match in which tho latter played a man without permission from the other side was referred to the Grade Committee to report.
