The steamer Suevic, which went ashore near the Lizard Point, lighthouse, struck tlie only place on tho rocks wlicro she could possibly have lived. All the passengers are enthusiastic over the conduct of the officers, the crew, and the life.boat men. A Lloyd's telegram to-day savs that tho Suevic is in 23ft of water. Three of the four compartments and the after part are dry. Attempts are being made to rescue t-ho passengers' effects. Ihe Agents-general for l.lio colonies met the passengers in London this evening to otter temporary aid. ° March 20. (Received March 20, at 9.37 p.m.) There is little hope of floating the Suevic, though she has sustained no further damage, despite the rough, sen and strong wind. (Received March 20, at 10.37 p.m.) Mr Vt. Young, of Melbourne, and other Sticvio passengers declare that, despite orders, the first boatload contained two male Salvationists am! a clergyman. General indignation was expressed on board.
