Such weak-kneed action as that of tlio seven councillors who, in spile of their knowledge of the illegality of their action, voted to stop tlio cars running en l!oud Friday, is a most pitiable spectacle to thinking and law-abiding citizens. At the present moment strong, men. and men of integrity, are required at tlio head of city affairs, so that a safe course may lie steered amidst the many glaring difficulties and muddles that beset civic affair.*, liy their action in voting for wlwt they knew to b« an illegal course, Messrs Loudon and Gore have T.osf assuredly forfeited the confidence of ratepayers and citizens alike., because they have done what was deliberately laid before them as unlawful; and have set at nought the rights, necessities - , and convenience of tlio residents of Greator Dunodin.
