CITY COUNCIL.
THE AHUiOAOHIiNG ELECTIONS. More than ilie usual amount of interest is being displayed in tho biennial election of councillors in Dunodin. There is every likelihood of a superabundance of candidate, witii a contest in each ward. So far the names mentioned avo as follows:— South J. A ride, H. Crust (retiring councillors). \V. Brinsley (retiring councillors). If. L. Tapley. 3. Hayincs, T. Robertson. Loith Ward.-Mesys J. Small, J. . J5. White (retiring councillors). 11. 11. S. White, J. W. Munro, ft. Brcen, J. M'Douold. . ■ Cavershiim Ward.—Messrs J. Wilson, K. Rutherfor.d, T. Colo (retiring councillors). R. Ewiug. ' South Dimedin Ward.—Messrs ,]. B. Shacklock, X. Fiddis (retiring councillors), T. Dotting, J. Tnvernor, J. Huston, T. Smith, W. Baird, W. Fleming.. Nominations arc due on Apr:! 17, and the. election takes placo on April 2i. Cr Loudon (Bell Ward) and Cr Gore (South Ward) arc candidates for tho mayoralty, and it is understood that the present Mayor (Mr G. Lawrence) will seek re-election. Cr Biley (Lnilh Ward) and Cr Harrison (Caversham Ward) aro retiring from municipal politics.
