REMARKS BY TIIK JUDGE. (Per United Pkess Association.) OAMARU, IVbruary 23. In pronouncing scnteneo on Pindlay, found guilty of theft, from tho' house of Ecnnie, tlra Pnpakaib schoolmaster, 'Mr Justice Williams said th'e verdict'of the jury was to practically convict accused of the miirdcr of Ronnie, of which he was acquitted in Dunedin. ' Prisoner's record •was decidedly bad, ho having served tiind oh two charges of horsfc-stealing, of burglary, and theft, altogether 12 previous convictions havi|ig been recorded against him. His Honor thought the accused a fitting subject for the application of an Indeterminate sentence, therefore ho would sentence him_ to five years' hard labour and' adjudge him an habitual criminal.
