Thursday, February 21. (Before Mr H. Y. Widdowson, S.M.)
Drunkenness and Indecency.—David Henderson, charged with being drunk in Princes street on the> previous evening and with committing a' grossly indecent act while in that condition, ptended " Guilty." Ho said that he remembered nothing about his doings. Ho had been in Dunedin for a fortnight looking for work, and would return to the country at onco if allowed to do so.—He was fined 20s, or 48 hours' imprisonment for drunkenness, and, provided lie left the town at onco he was convicted -for indecency, and ordered to come up for sentence when called on. Alleged Forgery.—Thomas Coglan, alias John Ji'Carthy, who had been arrested on tho previous day on a charge of obtaining £5 from Maurios Coughlan, a. Dunedin hotolkceper, by false- pretences, was charged as above.—On the application of Chief-detective, Herbert a remand was granted until March 1 so that evidence might bo obtained from Middlciuarch, where the offence was alleged to have- been committed.'—The romand was granted.
