M.C.C. v. WAIRARAPA. (Per United Fbes's Association.) MASTERTON, February 19. Tho cricket match Wairarapa v. M.C.C. was commenced at Masterton to-day in line weather. A good wicket had been prepared, and the visitors are delighted with the ground, saying that it is the best that they liavo played on in the colony.

The English team is composed of Burns, Curwen, Douglas, Fox, Harrison, Johnson, Page, Torrens, Do TrafFord, 'i'ufnell, and Williams. Tho Englishmen won the toss, but put Wairarapa in. Tho local team started badly, four wiqkcts being down for 13. Waters and Becchey put a different complexion on tho game, however, and carried the score to 62 before Beechey was given out leg before to Douglas, after making 25 by good cricket. The next wioket fell at 62, and the next at 65. Redmond and M'Gurk took the scoro to 83, when Redmond was bowled by Torrens. The remaining batsmen did not make -much of a stand, and the innings closed for 120. Waters played a capital innings for 28, and M'Gurk also batted well for 25. Wairarapa batted 15 men. The fielding of the visitors was excellent. Fox eame out with the best bowling average, taking five wickets for 10 runs, but Douglas bowled best, taking three wickets for 11 runs. He bowled eight maiden overs in succession, and took three wickets in these overs.
