Mr Deakin slates that in the reply he has received in connection with his representations re the New Hebrides attention is called to the fact- that the Tecent representations made on behalf of New Zealand and the Commonwealth had not- yet been received in Great Britain. "It is supposed," sn.ys Mr Deakin, "that we have asked for certain alterations of the pro]>oscd agreement with France, and, if correct, it is suggested that it would impede any endeavour to give effect to such alterations if the Imperial Government were called upon to publish the full text of the agreement." In these circumstances, Mr Deakin did not propose to press for its publication at present.
