Drimkomirss.-A female first offender was fined 59, and was ordered to pay cab hire (2s), in default 24 bours' imprisonment, A ina'o' first offender, who was found drunk on tho railway station platform at 10.25 a.m. on Friday, was fined 10s, with the option of J8 hours' imprisonment,, and Ellen M'Gcp, who started her career of drunkenness in IEO 4, and who had 107 previous convictions to her credit, was sent to prison for 14 days. __ False Pretences.—William Milne pleaded " Guilty " to a charge of having, on February 22, obtained board and lodging to the value ot £1 is from Margaret Ann Itnmsav by means of false pretences.—Chief Detective Herbert stated that the accused, who was arrested on warrant, represented himself as a cook, employed at a place in town, and obtained trust on that representation. The accused had been twice previously convicted for small theils. He'was a very delicate young man, and sufored very much from asthma, and was also an opium ' subject.—A sentence of one month's imprisonment with hard labour was imposed.
