N.Z. AMATEUR ROWING ASSOCIATION.

«. (Per United Phess Association.) WELLINGTON, March 17. A general meeting of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association was held tonight. The matter of allowing Australian oarsmen and others from abroad competing at New Zealand championship regattas had been mooted at the last annual meetin?, when it was decided that no motion could be taken as an alteration in the rules was involved. Notice of motion was however, eiven, and to-nipht's mooting was called so that a decision might be. arrived at before the coming championship meeting at Picton. Mr Neilson moved—"That nothing contained in any of the rules of this association shall be held to prevent amateur oarsmen from other countries competing at regattas held under tho auspices of the N.Z.A.R.A., provided anproval is obtained." This was carried.' Tho association has received a letter from tho Canterbury Association applying for tho 1906-7 reeatta to be held at Lake Forsyth. This will be considered at the annual meeting.
