THE 'LATEST RETURNS. (Per United Pmss Association.) " '.. WELLINGTON, February 15. The agricultural returns collccted by oriumoi'ators early in Ootobor liavo now been summarised, and arc set out in tho Gazette published this evening. The area under wheat for threshing was 222,965 acrcs—a decrease of 35,050 acres, and for chaffing, 606 acies—a decreaso of 275 acres. Tho area under oats for threshing was 360,569 acrcs, arid for chaffing 238,687 acres, showing increases of 18,380 and 31,933 acrcs respectively. There is ali increaso of 713 acres in the aroa under barley. The number of horses in tho colony is 326,966—an increase of 12,196; cattle, 1,810,936-'-an increase of 74,086; sheep, 19,130,875—an increaso of 850,069; swine, 249,727—a dccreaso of 5593.
