A OHUISTCHUftOH FIRM'S TENDER ' ACCEPTED. TO BE COMPLETED IN SIXTEEN MONTHS. A spccial meeting of tlio Otago Dock Tnufc was hold yesterday afternoon to reeeivo and consider the report of the spccial committee appointed to consider the tenders incolvsd for tlio construction of the now dock at Port Chalmers. Mr E. G. Allen, M.H.R. (chairman), presided, and Messrs R, 51. Clark, N. Dodds, D. A. Dc Mans, A. Cable, J, Thomson,, and AV. Sutton were present, ns were also Mr R. liny (oneincer) and Mr .fames Mills, representing the Union Company. Tlio report, of the committee (Messrs Thomson, Clark, and Sutton) was as follows:—"Youv committee appointed to report on the lenders received for the construction of the graving dock duly met, and after discussion it was resolved—'That tho trust-bfe recommended to accept tlio tender of Messrs Luttrell and Scott, of Christchurch, in the sum of £58,719—th0 contract to bo completed in 16 months from tho date of tho delivery of the dredge to the contractors at Port Chalmers. "It was also resolved—'That, failing tho completion of the contract within the stipulated time, tlio difference between the lowest formal tender and Messrs Luttroll and Scott's be divided into 14 equal instalments, and the amount deducted from any moneys otherwise duo to the contractors for each and every month bv which they exceed the .stipulated time of 16 months 'in completing the dock. The deduction to bo in addition lo tho penalties nrovided in tho contract:'" .
