MAORI HILL BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Tho ordinary meeting of the Maori Hill Borough Council, held last'night, was attended by the Mayor (Mr J. L. Passraoro), and Crs. Pilkington, N. A. Booth; Butterfield, Crowiher, Long, J. Booth, Smith, Butler, and Aaskoy. <

CORREsrOKDESJCE. T. B. Fairbaim, town clerk, Dunedin, wrote in reply to a letter from the Maori Hill Council, stating that the Dunedin City Council's Water Committee had agreed to tho' terms for laying water pipes in th: Borough of Maori Hill as stated in the letter from the Maori Hil! Council.—Received.

Hobert' Macdonald wrote applying for water servico from the town supply to his dwellinghouse, Main road, Wcodliaugh. In connection with this mattor Jh T. B Fairbairu, town clorky wrote stating that the Dunedin City Council Water Committee had granted the application mado. by Jlr Macuonald for a water supply. Arrangements would bo mado as to payment of rates, etc.—Both letters were received.

G. Moiris wrote stating that having bought three sections in the township of Cannington for building purposes ho would like to draw the attention of the Maori Hill Council to part of the clay bank on tho road alongside, As ho was about to remove the upper part of the bank ho would like the council to remove the other part projecting in tho road and help to fill .up a hollow in tho rond adjoining.—Referred to tile inspector, with power to act. The Mayor of Dunedin (Mr T, R. Christie) wrote enclosing draft of tho constitution of tho Advance Otago League, and requesting the members of tho council to givo it their careful consideration.—Received.

Tho Secretary of the Dunedin Drainage and Sewerage Board wrote enclosing, as preliminary intimation, _ a copy of- special resolution, to act as special order, passed by tho board. If tho special resolution should be confirmed at a meeting to bo held for that purpose on March IS a copy of the special order, directing the rato to be levied and collected, would be duly forwarded.—lt was. rfcsolvcd to request the board to exempt from the drainage area West Ward, North Ward, and the sparsely populated part of East TVard, as had been done in the past two years. DBPOBTS. The Works Committee reported having granted permission to lay pipes along certain streets in the North Ward, asked for in tho letter from the town clerk of Dunedin on the 12th lilt., subject to the following conditions:—(l) That the City Council widen by at least 3ft the portion of the Main Lcith Valley road, near Morrison's Creek, for a distance of one and a-lialf chains, and' bo responsible for the removal of any slips occurring afterwards on this part of the road; the Maori Hill Council to cart away aH stone (spawled suitable for metal) which requires to be removed in widening the read. (2) Between the bridge, commonly known as Sionylord, and Lawson's respectively tho pipes shall be laid along the unformed road on the left bank of the Watw oi Lcith. In all other respects the permission shall bo subject, to the. terms of this council's letter of August 8, ]903, to the City Council. The committee aleo Teported that the inspector had b?en authorised to have the decking of the Stonyford bridge repaired.—Adopted. Tho Finance Committee recommended accounts amounting to £91' 3s 4d to be passed for payment. They also recommended that the town clerk be instructed to notify that legal proceedings will be taken for the recovery of all lates and dog taxes outstanding on March I.—Adopted.
