OTAGO CENTRAL RAILWAY.
TO THE EDITOK. Sill,—l liavo read your account of tha meeting of the Ota go Central Railway League and your leading article in Wednesday's paper. I would Jko to ask you to inform me, if possible, whether tho Railway League has got any definite terminus view for that line, or whether its object is only to get ss much money as possible spent on it. I think there cull" bo tittle doubt that the small expenditure (apparently about £60,000) required to complete the railway to Alexandra makos this extension tha most urgent public, work in tho colony, and if the aim of the league is to take the railway to Alexandra and no farther, then it ought to try to mako its aim, not an aim for the Otago members and tho Otago pcoplo only, but an aim for the whole of New Zealand. Would it not be _ possible for the league, with this object in view, to get information about this railway published in all the leading papers of the colony, showing the importance of iho Alexandra extension of tho Otago Contra! raihvay. The extension beyond Alexandra, however, is not nearly so important, and would be much better delayed until the North Island Main Trunk line, at least, and probably the Midland railway also, are completed.—l am, etc., Christ-church, I'ob. 8.
