DUNNEDIN SWIMMING CLUB.

The second evening sports meeting of tin season in connection with the DunwUn Amateur Swimming Club was held at Peliehet Bay baths .last evening. There ms a fair attendance of spectators, who watcbfltl with considerable interest tho three events which comprised the programme. Tho 300 yds Handicap, for med&'.s presented by Mr TI, E. Holler, attracted five entries, and tho Relay Race of 133>'ds, between teams from the Otago Lodge of Druids and the Albion Ledge of Oddfellows, brought out two evenlybalanced teams of four aside.' Tho polo match beiwecn teams representing the Dunrdin Club and the Otpgo Club (St. Clair) also brought out strong combinations on both sides, and an exciting contest resulted. Tho following are the results:— ,10:>ycls Handicap (tor medals presented by Mr 11. E, Sfoilei). —11. Thomson, ssec, 1; R, J. Morrin, loscc, 2; M. C. Butterfield, scr, 3. D. Hntheson 18see and Q. M'Kinnpn 22sec also- competed, but the former gave up bcroro the linisli, and Hie latter contented himself with swimming the distance without any pronounced effort to secure a place. Bntterfield, the scratch man, started a second or two too soon, and returned to the post, thus losing about dscc, but afterwards made a, strong attempt to regain lost ground. Thomson swam well from start to finish, and won by about 10 yards from Jlorrin, who at tha finish wa3 about 15 yards ahead of Butterfield. Time, 4min 31 l-sscc.

Polo Match (Dunediu v. Otago Club).— Dnnedui, 2 goali; Otago, 1 goal. The teams were seven aside, and' the match was a firstclass exhibition of the game, the passing l on both sides being done with judgment. AV. Johnson secured a goal for Dunedin in the first five -minutes, and made a good attempt to secure another a minute or two afterwards, but threw the leather over instead of under the cros:-*bar. It. K. Hall, for the Otago Club, afterwards secured a goal with a welljudged throw, and play was then transferred to'the Otago quarters, and, after give-and-take manoeuvring, Johnson again secured the leather, ami potted the winning shot for Dunedin.

Relay Race, 133 yds (Otago Lodge of Druids v. Albion Lodge, Oddfellows).—The teams in this event were:—Druid?.: Hawkins, Thompton, . M'Carlby, and Rigby. Oddfellows: Morrin,- Bradley, Stabb, and AVatson. The winners, owing to a bad start,. lost some ground, but this was speedily made up, and lifter a o'ovj contest a win was recorded by lour , yards.
