SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

The ordinary mooting of the Arthur Street bchool Committee, held on Monday, was attended by Messrs Struthcrs (chairman). W. Scott, J. Edgar, A. Sligo, J. Kcinnitz, R. Forsyth, and E. Cameron. Apologies wore received ! fof non-attendance from Messrs A. Burt and Loudon. The Head Master, reported thfe average attendance for the week as fol-lows:-Boys 252, girls 223;— total, 475. On the roll—Boys 279, girls 265t0tal 544. The City Council Reserves Committee wrote re destruction of • elderberry on the Town .Belt, and "the committee 'decided to grant a half-holiday, if nccessarjy to those scholars who decided to take part i 11 1 this work. The Otago Education Board hsu-ing declined to put the playsheds in connection with the school in repair, it was decided to again approach the board and represent, that the committee had no funds for the purpose, and also to point out that the r sheds;, were a neccssary adjunct to the school, arid:,wero' the property, of the board. The chairman',and Mr,., Scott were appointed a Visiting ■: Committee for the month, and accounts amounting to. £19 103 were passed for payment. .

. The, monthly meeting 'of'the Albany StreetSchool Committee was held on Monday; present—Messrs A. Dempster (chairman), H. Mitchell, Nugent, Brooke, J. H. Wilkinson, J. O'Shea, 11. E. Stephens, W. Aitken, and W. R. Smith. The Head Master reported the attendance-for .the day as COD, and notified that-.CS new.;scholars had been enrolled since the school was reopened. It was also reported that the candidates for scholarships had done credit to the'.,school, and the committee passed a resolution' congratulating the head master and: staff on,'the satisfactory work that had been done. Messrs Wilkinson'and Aitken were appointed-a.Visiting Committee for the month, and after the transaction of a quantity of routine business accounts amounting to £25 6s 2d were passed ,for payment. It was reported that arrangements for the school picnic at Piikoteraki on Friday next were well in'hand, aud that • several special prizes had; been donated.
