OTAGO LAW SOCIETY.

Tho annual meeting of the Law Society of Otago, held ,at 4 o'clock on Friday afternoon, was very largely attended. Office-bearers for the ensuing year wero eleoted as follow:—President, Mr J. H. Hosking-; vice-president, Mr J. F. M. Fraser; lion, treasurer, Mr F. J. Stilling; secretary, Mr W. H. M'Keay; members of council—Messrs A. C. Hanlon, J. C. Stephens, A. A. Finch, J, A. Cook, A. James, and S. Brent. An important resolution with reference to law lectureships at the University was moved by Mr T. K. Sidey, M.H.8., and adopted. It reads as follows:—"That this mooting of the Otago Law Society aflirms tho desirability of re-establishing the law lectureships in connection with the University of Otago, and considers that until funds for the purpose aro available a scheme of voluntary lectureships should bo adopted. Tho society commends the project to the , Counoil of the University, and invites members of the profession to help to give it

effect. That a committee, consisting of Mr John MacGregor, Mr Hosking, Mr W. C. MacGregor, Mr W. Downie Stewart, Mr L. E. WiDiams, and Mr Sidey, bo appointed to confer on- the subject with the University Council." ■',-.'
