The Cromwell Argus states that last week the Dulto of Gordon dredge obtained a return of 2«95, The secretary of the Paterson's Freehold Company reports tho following returns for last week:—No. 1 dredge, IGoz; No. 2 dredge, 250z lOdwt. A dividend (tho thirty-fifth) of-ls per share liac been declared by the directors of the Upper Waipori Alluvial Gold Dredging Company, payable on Tuesday, 20th inst. The master of the Rising Sun dredge reports that the actual time worked last week was 116 hours, and the distanco worked ahead 12ft. A stoppage of 12 hours was causcd through the screen, which is getting very much worn and may bo troublesome until the arrival of the new one, which will bo on tho claim in about 10 days. The prospects showed a slight improvement, and the hard clay bottom.was getting less and wijs dipping ahead. The cut is now 110 yards wide. Says the Duustan Times:—"Notwithstanding' the heavy rainfall, the river has fallen considerably during the past week. Of tho local dredges the New Monte Christo is tiic only ono which has been compelled t# shut down owing to the rise. The dredge will probably not resume till next season." The Lady Roxburgh dredgo was last week working on previously-treated ground. Dredging was stopped at 11 a.m. on Saturday last, and the head and side lines shifted 'so as to take the dredge past the worked ground, Tho tailings from the Molyneux Kohinoor dredgo .were filling up the top end of the claim. The river, which rose during the previous week, showed signs last week of falling again. Tho master of tho Molyneux Kohinoor dredge, in bis report for last week, states that considerable time was lost owing to the elevator driving wheel being stripped twice, and trouble from the winch. As the gold gave out the previous week the dredge was pulled iihead over GOft. Tho prospeots wero better Saturday, but no bottom was obtained. The river rose again,', and it was intended to put in the screen plates, also tho new ladder rollers, etc., beforo starting. The manager of the Nokomai Hydraulic Sluicing Company's No. 1 elevator reports that everything was got ready for tho pipes, which arrived on Friday, ar.d that- he expects to Imvo tho job of repairing the race completed to-day, weather , permitting. From No. 2 the reports aro that sinking was continued, and that the ejevator is down to 20ft. At this depth the sinking was through blue wash,'and'a. brpwn wash has been met.
