An ill quest was held this evening on an old settlor named Cornelius Shine, aged 75 years, who died suddenly whilo driving homo on Wednesday night. Tho verdict was to tho effect that death was duo lo natural cause?. Mr Shino arrived in tiio Oamarit district between 25 and 30 years ago, sctilin.g at Hilderthorpo. Ho afterwards purchased a. farm at Otinkc, whom ho remained for many years, but lately resided at Ardgowan with 1113 daughters.
An elderly man named Petor Hamon was brought into tho Hospital from Climton last evening snlTering from severe burns about his eyes, face, and hands. Hamon, who followed tho occupation of rabbitor, was living in a tent somo M miles from Clinton, and by somo means tho tent caught firo on Wednesday aiiglit, Tho man got out as best he could, but m escaping from tho flames lie sustained tho above-mentioned injuries. Ho then made his way to tho residcnco of Mr Chalmers, about a mile distant, and Mr Chalmers, hearing his cries, went to his assistance, took him in, and did everything possible to nlleviato, his sufferings. On Thursday maiming Mr Chalmers cent a messenger to Clinton, and Constable Hunt, went out, and decided to send Hamon to tho Hospital for treatment. No serious results are anticipated. An expressman named Robertson, residing at Mornimgton, was driving past the Botanical Gardens yesterday morning when his express collidod with a tramcar, tho foreo .of the impact throwing Mr Robertson to the ground. He was a good deal cut about tho bead, but his injuries wero attended to by thoso who witnessed the occurrence, and ho afterwards proceeded on his way.
