OTAGO LAND BOARD.
The weekly meeting of the Otago Laud Board was heia yesterday; present—Messrs D. Barron' (Coininissioaer of Crown Lands), J. Duncan. W. Dallas, and H. H. Kirkpatrick. An apology for nbsence was sent by Mr H. Clark on account of illness.
C. Skttnd wrote accepting the board's terms for a mouthly license over sections 9 and 10, Barnego Settlement.—Received. W. Groves and — Todd made an application for section''s7, blosk I, Akntore district.—Referred to the Education Board. The board considered tho case of. N. T. lopson, lessee of section 267, block I, Blacksfono district, who has been called upon to show cause 'why his lea9o should not be .declared, forfeited for his non-compliance with conditione.—Lease forfeited, and leases of section 266, block Ij Blackstone district, section 265, block I, Blackstone district, also forfeited. A letter Was received from Jabez Burton in regard to the application made by D. B. Jones 'for a license to occupy 25 acres of tho mining reserve in block 11, Beager district. The following names were submitted as holders o! the license:—David R. Jones, Philip Madden, Michael Cahill, and James Edwaids.-Grwitcd, subject to an area' being reserved for tha buildings of the Island Block Company, tmd also a right-of-way thereto. A' letter was received from William Annan in regard io his application, for an occupation lease under " The Mining Districts Laud Occupation Act, 1891," over 20 acres in block XI, Leaning Rook district.—Referred to the ranger for a report. .'•Tile board was requested to authorise the receiver of land revenue to, deal with the sum of £20 Us 3d, paid as valuation for improvements on sections 31 arid 40, block I, MidWnkatipu district.—The receiver to retain £3 125, ; arrears of rent, and £1 10s, costs of reentry, and to pay £15 9s to tho former lessees. Mi'B C. Lahes applied for an occupation lease under "The Mining Districts Lnnd Occupation Act, 1801," over section 94, block IV, Tuapeka, East district.—Grantcci; rental Is per acre.
