' WELLINGTON, April 28. | Thero is somo likolihood of amalgamation of tho two steam ferry companies which havo been competing against each other for tho harbour traffio for somo time past. It is understood that tho Wellington Company will buy the Miramar Company. Thero was another burglary hero last night. Tho shop of Mr E. C. Batkin, tobacconist, on Lambton quay, was entered, and the cash contained in two tills—amouuting to about £s—was abstracted. Tho thieves gained entrance by placing a heavy ladder against tho back door, and then broke tho fanlight, through which it is presumed a. boy was pas,-ed to open the door. The ' stock was not touched. Tho members of tho Arbitration CourtMr Justice Cooper and Messrs R. Slater and S. Brown—proceed to Oliristchureh to-mor-row, and oil Thursday begin a session which is expected to occupy three weeks. It is probable that the court will sit in Wei- I lington after the Christchurch sitting,
