ROYAL HUMANE SOCIETY AWARDS.
»■■ (Per United Press Association'.) CHRISTCHURCH, April 28. At a meeting of the Royal Humane-Society to-day James Knowles, jun., Napier, was awarded a gold medal-the first issued by tho society. On previous occasions ho has received a certificate, a silver medal, and a silver clasp. Vno Vne Oronga (Cook Lilands) was awarded a silver clasp, in addition to the silver medal lie already holds. Silver medals wore awarded to Constable (Leonard J. Cookery (Wellington), Charles flimwani (Te Aroha), Frederick Kregar (Waverloy), and Charles Hansen (Gisbomc); and bronze medals to Richard Cassidy (Invercargill). Matthew Bonnie (Brunnerton), and Walter William Hurley Nortlicote (Auckland). Framed certificates were awpntel to Hannah M. Mosley (Stirling) and Emily R. Barron (Ellerslie); and in memoriam certificates to the relations of Ivar Jacobus Hoiby, who wis drowned in attempting' a rescue at Gisbomc; a certificate on vellum to Arthur Shapton Richards (Gisborne); an ordinary certificate to Robert Hull (Christchurch); a. special letter of commendation to Captain W. D. Reid (Auckland); letters of commendation to Elizabeth Forrior (Fairfax), Constable A. Skinner (Auckland), Constable James Cahill (Aucklandl, James Kane (Timani), and Mary Khouri (Christchurch).
