The Cantonese residents in/Shanghai have protested to the Governor of Goueral Wang's intention to accept French assistance in suppressing the Kwaugsi rebellion, contending that such assistance would tend to create a foreign party in China.
'■■ The arbitrators' award in tho Tientsin' siding dispute, which arose in ' 1900 through Russians seizing Kinders railway siding, upholds the British claims, but admits that tho Russian contentions in favour of the seizure were well founded.
