PORTOBELLO ROAD BOARD.
: The monthly meeting of the Portobello Road Board, he'.d on Saturday, was attended, by Messrs TV. Dickson (chairman), Macnndrew, Bacon, Hinkley, Milne, North, and Seaton. The inspector's report was adopted, and it mas resolved, that tenders be called for breaking, metal at North-East Harbour, tenders to be in by next meeting. Mr J. G. Burt's request to bo allowed to take sorao stone from the road line near his property was granted, subjcct to the usual conditions. In connection with (he some gentleman application, in conjunction with Mr I{. M'Taggart, for a new culvert to be put on on the new road, the inspector was instructed to report at next meeting. Mr .T. T. Nyhon appeared to object to a swing gate being put on the road leading to sections 10 and 11, block VI, Otago Peninsula.' As Mr Dickson was interested in' the matter ho vacated the chair, Mr Macsndre'w taking his place. After hearing both sides it was resolved that the matter stand over till next meeting, to see if an understanding could be arranged between the parties concerned. The offer of Mr Barr, Xortli'-East Harbour, to supply the hoard with building stone at 4s, and spawls for metal at 3s per yard, put, on -tho Side of the road, v:as accepted where required. Sir Searle was granted permission to lay down pipes on the street line in Oban to carry water io.h'.s place, subject to the supervision of the inspector. Mr A. Ciark wrote asking the board to repair the slip on the road leading to block IV, Otago Peninsula. The member for tho district was requested to visit the place and see what could he done, and the inspector to report at next meeting. It was resolved to invite applications for the position of head surfaceman foi the Portobello subdivision, in place of TV. Geary, jun., resigned. The returning officer was instructed to take the necessary steps for the election of members who rctiro by the effluxion of time, to he held the first week in May next,
