TRIAL OF A CREAM SEPARATOR.

A trial of the Crown R 25 Cream Separator, for which tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agc-ney Company aro the agents, took place yesterday morning at the Taieri aud Peninsula Company's factory under tho supervision of Mr Carl A. Andersson, who represents the manufacturers. The separator is one of largo capacity, being constructed to treat- 510 gallons of milk per hour. The makers claim that it is just a 9 efficient,' if not more so, than other makes, and at the same time is much simpler in point of construction, having only io inner part?. This enables it to bj cleaned with much less labour and trouble than a machine of a more complicated na*urc. A number of these machine* are in use in the North Island, especially in the Wanganui district, while thev have also been installed in the Central Factory in G'lijistehurcli, and in Timarii, Oamaru, and InVercargill factories. The inventor of the separator was a- Swede ' named Olaf Olsen. and a company now known, as tho Svcnska Cc'ntrifug Aktie Bqlaffet was formed to put it on tho market in 1898. sinco which time it is claimed that 60,000 separators have been sold and installed in dairy factories all over the world. Tlio company's works aro at Sodertelje, about 24 miles from Stockholm, and they employ about- 300 men. v/lio turn out from 70 to 80 machine's per day. Mr Alex. Burns, who is in charee oF the machinery department of tho Now Zealand I-onn and Mercantile Agency Company, will be pleased t' show the machine to anyone desiring to insnect the same. At tho trial which took place yesterday morning a number of gentlemen present who aro interested in the dairy business expressed themselves thoroughly satisfied with the working of the machine.
